CAMDEN – The 2013 Spring Fling at the Camden campus is quickly approaching. Jackie Tenuto, the assistant to the executive dean at Camden County College, is responsible for getting all of the events, activities and tables ready for the event. She showed a lot of enthusiasm about what she has planned for the big day.
A photo booth, cotton candy, two balloon artists and a pro shoot basketball game are the activities that are planned for the 2013 Camden campus Spring Fling. Also, a disc jockey will be attending to provide all the attendees with some background music. Tenuto also collaborates with student officers and CCC students to get their input on what they would want to see at the upcoming Spring Fling. Together they invited some businesses and campus clubs to set up informational tables on that day. A couple of the businesses that will be in attendance to share information with students are Barnes and Noble and TD Bank. Every year Tenuto tries to plan new events and activities, so all of the activities planned for this year will be new.
Also at Spring Fling, graduating students will be able to pick up their caps and gowns for the upcoming commencement ceremony. The graduation photography company will also be there, along with the company that sells class rings.
Tenuto said the main goal of Spring Fling is “for students to have fun.” She continued, “All students pay a service fee and part of it is used for student activities. Even though we are not a four-year college we need to have fun, and for free.”
Jasmine Hendricks, who takes classes at the Camden and Blackwood campuses, has never been to a Spring Fling but after hearing the details she said, “I’m excited to go to the Spring Fling, it sounds like a lot of fun.”
Spring Fling will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 18 at the College Hall Courtyard on 7th and Cooper streets in Camden. Admission is free, but only Camden County College students who are enrolled in courses at the Camden campus are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Tenuto at (856) 374-5088 or email her at jtenuto@camdencc.edu.
