A Camden County College student who has taken an art class in the fall 2013 semester, spring 2014 semester or both semesters may submit one or two pieces of art for the exhibit, which will take place April 16 to May 16 at the gallery on the Blackwood campus. The student art exhibit takes place every spring semester, allowing students to showcase their talents in painting, ceramics, sculpture and photography.

The art teachers at Camden County College will encourage students to submit their pieces for the exhibit. Students must deliver their pieces from April 7 to 10. Two judges – Mary Saventa, a representative of the art gallery of Rowan University, and Dr. Ross Beitzel, a curator of the Beitzel Art Gallery at Gloucester County College – will select the pieces to be shown at the exhibit.

The winning pieces will be selected on April 11. The winners in each of several categories will receive prizes from the Camden County College bookstore. The top prize, for best of show, will be a $200 gift certificate from the bookstore.

An opening reception will be held April 16. Refreshments will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. The winners in the exhibit will be announced at 6 p.m. and receive their prizes after the announcement. The event will be open to the public.

“For the opening reception on April 16, students who are participating in the show should encourage parents and friends to come,” said Therese Marlin, the director of the Marlin Art Gallery.

The student art exhibit will be open April 16 to May 16 in the Marlin Art Gallery in Room 24 in Lincoln Hall on the Blackwood campus of Camden County College. Admission is free. For more information, call Marlin at 856-227-7200, ext. 4201.
