At 12:15 p.m. on Nov. 5, crowds of students began building in the courtyard near the Otto R. Mauke Community Center on the Blackwood campus of Camden County College.
Two protesters, part of a group called Pastor Aden and the Bible Believers, stood in the courtyard inside a section of yellow tape. Each held signs with hateful messages, including “Obey Jesus or Hellfire.” The younger of the two protesters stood silently, but the other, a middle-age man, shouted nonstop, saying things such as “women belong in the kitchen!”
Many students laughed at the shouts of hate, but some shouted curses at the protesters. Though adults encouraged students to ignore the protesters and go inside the building for free pizza, a steady group of about a hundred people remained watching.
At 3 p.m., the protesters left and the crowds dispersed.
