The workforce training department at Camden County College will conduct its third annual Technical Test Drive on April 16 to 19 to allow prospective students to get a firsthand look at careers that may interest them in the future.

Taking place at a variety of locations, the four-day event will give prospective students a chance to attend and evaluate a class session for an hour and see what could be expected in different fields of work. Trades whose classes will be part of the Technical Test Drive will include cosmetology, carpentry, automotive repair, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

With jobs often being difficult to find and openings in the trades becoming more common, the event is intended to help prospective students know they have alternatives in their career choices and show them other opportunities to explore.

Tammy Gallagher, secretary for the workforce training department, said she believes the Technical Test Drive will “pique more of an interest in trades” and “over 20 students” took advantage of the opportunity last year. The department anticipates a larger turnout this year and with two spots open for each session, prospective students who are interested in participating should reserve a spot as soon as possible.

Those who have reserved a spot and plan on attending should dress appropriately for the session they have chosen.

For more information on registration, times, locations and proper attire, prospective students should visit the events section of the Camden County College website at http://camdencc.edu/event/technical-test-drive-2 or contact the workforce training department office at 856-874-6004.
