BLACKWOOD – Camden County College held its first career fair hosted in partnership with Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey on May 5. The event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Connector Building gave students and the general public the oppurtunity to find employment and network with 28 local companies in South Jersey.

Employers contacted by Goodwill participated in the event. The companies included Clementon Park and Splash World and Sugar House Casino. Attendees could inquire about a range of jobs from entry-level positions to more advanced employment in the setting.
One of the companies in attendance, Inserts East Inc., a printing company in Pennsauken, had immediate openings for entry-level workers. Its representative, Carla Bogart from the human resources department, said the company was “hoping to find good candidates.”
Another of the companies participating in the event was Inductotherm, a company that specializes in the design and manufacturing of induction technology. Company official Lisa Pitman said that means the company “manufactures industrial materials that melt metals” and added the company was there to recruit workers.
One company looking for more qualified applicants was South Jersey Transportation, which had positions for CDL drivers for which few of the prospects in attendence had the credentials. Company representative Paula Ehrke said while the event had a good turnout, advertising was her only issue, noting she saw “not enough advertisement and not enough signs posted, but it’s very well organized besides that and the hospitality was great.”
Some of the other companies looking to hire at the career fair were Aaron’s Funiture, Wegmans, Beneficial Bank, TD Bank and the Courier-Post.
Jennifer Mauro, the vice president of employment and training, said this event was the first of its kind. “We are hoping to make it an annual event. Goodwill’s mission is about helping people get employment.”
Several people were going from table to table and looking around for opportunities, while others stopped and gazed at at least one table while going in and out of the entrance.
