This is the time of year for students in English Composition I and English Composition II at Camden County College to take the English Department composition final, an essay used to evaluate how the students’ writing has developed through the period of the course.

Students who will take the English Composition I final will not find out their essay topic until they arrive for the exam. Students who will take the English Composition II final will find out their topic before the exam.

Students taking the English Department composition final can register for the day, time and campus at which they want to take the exam. The exam will take place on the Blackwood, Camden and Cherry Hill campuses.

According to the English Department website, each essay will be evaluated by two graders and must receive a grade of six or higher to pass. When a student passes the department final, he or she can receive a final grade for the course and, if passing, can move on from the course. If a student receives lower than a passing score, he or she will have to retake the final to advance from the course.

If a student cannot make it to his or her registered time, he or she can go as a walk-in before the deadline. An “I” for incomplete will be given until the exam has been completed. Otherwise, the student will receive an “F” for the final.
